The Last of Us followed suit with yet another entertaining watch this week. This episode picks up where episode 3 left off, following Ellie and Dina on the streets of Seattle, in search of revenge for the, still haunting, murder of Joel.
But first, we find ourselves travelling backwards 11 years to join a military team’s convoy within the Seattle quarantine zone. Within the vehicle, Josh Peck, begins to tell an anecdote to his fellow squadrons, displeasing the sergeant and raising questions from a concerned younger soldier.
As the car is halted in its tracks by a purposely misplaced school bus, the squad is surrounded by unarmed locals. Isaac, the sergeant, takes it upon himself to handle this solo. However, suggests that the previously inquisitive soldier joins him. After an exchanging of names between Isaac and the lead local, it is clear to see that the two are in some sort of cahoots, much to the surprise of the young follower.
Isaac walks nonchalantly back to the vehicle, unpins two grenades and tosses them in with his comrades, shutting the door and killing his remaining troops. The young rookie is given a choice, sensibly choosing Isaac and the local’s side.
A Tuneful Serenade

Fast-forward back to the present day and we find Ellie and Dina looking for medical supplies. After spotting a WLF graffiti on a TV tower in the distance, Dina takes charge and suggests holding off an assault until the sun has set. The two protagonists, alongside their horse, take refuge in a record shop. Ellie finds a beautifully crafted, yet horrifically untuned, acoustic guitar.
After a quick manual tune, she begins to play a slowed rendition of A-ha’s Take On Me, only to be interrupted by a spying Dina. After brief encouragement, she continues to play and sing the 80s classic.
Kitchen Nightmares

We then cut back to Isaac, discussing his dreams of owning a set of esteemed Mauviel copper pans to an unknown listener. After a brief consideration of what Isaac may be cooking his guest, we learn he is not using the pans for their intended purpose – but in fact to torture and obtain information from a member of the ‘Scars’.
Despite his unpleasant means, Isaac is unable to extract information about the group’s plans, choosing to put an off-screen bullet into the perpetrator. However, we do learn more about the Scar’s obsession with the unknown ‘Her’.
Just Another Day on the London Underground

Ellie and Dina infiltrate the TV tower only to find the Scars have strung up members of the WLF, painting in blood ‘Feel Her Love’ on the wall. After an interruption from armed WLF soldiers, Ellie and Dina flee the scene, being chased into the underground metro.
Hidden behind rubble, Dina counts on her fingers the number of infected approaching, maxing out at five. Unfortunately, Dina ran out of fingers as hundreds of infected swarm the area, attacking the WLF soldiers. Thinking quickly, the two climb into, and out of, the train carriage, escaping momentarily before getting stuck on a rusty turnstile.
The front runner of the infected catches up to Dina and leans in to take a bite. Only to get a taste of Ellie’s forearm as she sacrifices her tattooed arm to protect her love interest.
A Lover’s Quarrel
Ellie and Dina scramble into a nearby theatre, only for Ellie to find herself the focal point of Dina’s gun. She convinces Dina of her immunity, allowing her to fall asleep in the chair but still with Dina’s sidearm firmly pointed at her.
Once awake, Dina reveals that she is pregnant, before the two passionately make love on the theatre floor. In the morning, the two talk through Ellie’s previous bites along with Dina’s pregnancy, giving reason to her recent morning sickness experiences. She backs this up by showing Ellie the numerous positive pregnancy tests that she took when searching for medical supplies earlier.
Ellie follows this up half-jokingly with “I’m gonna be dad!”
Back to the Mission

The conversation is interrupted by WLF radio chatter with Abby’s allies being heard, springing Ellie and Dina springing back into revenge mode. Running onto the building’s roof, they see smoke, explosions and gunshots in the distance.
Ellie is adamant for Dina to stay behind due to her recent discovery, however this is short-lived. Dina takes Ellie’s hand and assures her that they will do it together. The episode ends with the two looking over the Seattle skyline ready to make their next assault.
